Recombinant Human CCL28

CCL28, also known as mucosae-associated epithelial chemokine (MEC), CCK1 and SCYA28, is a chemokine. CCL28 regulates the chemotaxis of cells that express the chemokine receptors CCR3 and CCR10. CCL28 is expressed by columnar epithelial cells in the gut, lung, breast and the salivary glands and drives the mucosal homing of T and B lymphocytes that express CCR10, and the migration of eosinophils expressing CCR3.^1,2,3 CCL28 is constitutively expressed in the colon, but its levels can be increased by pro-inflammatory cytokines and certain bacterial products implying a role in effector cell recruitment to sites of epithelial injury.³ CCL28 is a key regulator of IgA antibody-secreting cells (ASCs) accumulation in the mammary gland and thus controls the passive transfer of IgA antibodies from mother to infant.⁴

The biological activity of Human MEC was determined by its ability to induce chemotaxis of mouse BaF/3 cells transfected with mCCR10 (mGPR2). The expected ED₅₀ for this effect is typically 0.4-2.0 μg/ml.

This recombinant protein was lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in Phosphate Buffered Saline (1X PBS) pH 7.2-7.4.

This lyophilized protein is stable for six to twelve months when stored desiccated at -20°C to -70°C. After aseptic reconstitution, this protein may be stored at 2°C to 8°C for one month or at -20°C to -70°C in a manual defrost freezer. Avoid Repeated Freeze Thaw Cycles.
