Anti-Chymotrypsin Antibody

Purified human pancreatic chymotrypsin.

This monoclonal antibody is formulated in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) pH 7.2 - 7.4 with no carrier protein or preservatives added.

Antibodies are purified by a multi-step process including the use of protein A or G to assure extremely low levels of endotoxins, leachable protein A or aggregates.

Upon initial thawing, appropriately aliquot and store at -80°C. For long-term storage, keep at -80°C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

These antibodies recognize human pancreatic chymotrypsin. They do not cross-react with human pancreatic trypsin.

Chymotrypsin is a proteolytic enzyme produced by the pancreas that acts in the duodenum. Chymotrypsin preferentially cleaves peptide amide bonds where the carboxyl side of the amide bond (the P1 position) is a large hydrophobic amino acid (tyrosine, tryptophan, and phenylalanine). These amino acids contain an aromatic ring in their sidechain that fits into a 'hydrophobic pocket' (the S1 position) of the enzyme. The proenzyme chymotrypsinogen is activated by trypsin.

Regulates activation and degradation of trypsinogens and procarboxypeptidases by targeting specific cleavage sites within their zymogen precursors. Has chymotrypsin-type protease activity and hypocalcemic activity. {PubMed:23430245}.
