Description

Specificity
Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody specific to beta-Defensin-3
Background
Beta-defensin-3, a nonhemolytic antimicrobial peptide originally isolated from human lesional psoriatic scales and cloned from human keratinocytes. Beta-defensin-3 appears to play a role in natural epithelial defense against infections by a broad spectrum of pathogenic microorganisms.

Antigen Details

Function
Exhibits antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive bacteria S.aureus and S.pyogenes, Gram-negative bacteria P.aeruginosa and E.coli and the yeast C.albicans. Kills multiresistant S.aureus and vancomycin-resistant E.faecium. No significant hemolytic activity was observed. {PubMed:11085990}.
