DescriptionDescriptionSpecificity Anti-Human Cytokeratin 19 (clone BA17) reacts with the smallest human cytokeratin (Mr 40 kDa).1 The antibody reacts specifically with cytokeratin 19 and has no reactivity with other cytokeratins. Background Cytokeratin 19, a type I intermediate filament protein, it is the smallest known acidic cytokeratin. The degree of keratin 19 positivity in breast cancer distinguishes malignant from benign tumours. Antigen Distribution Anti-Cytokeratin 19 reacts strongly with luminal (secretory) epithelial cells but does not stain the basal (myoepithelial) cells. There is a subset of secretory epithelial cells which were Keratin 19- and are thought to be precursors to keratin 19+ cells.1,2 PubMed Research Area Cell Biology . Neuroscience .
