Storage and Handling
The lyophilized antigen affinity purified polyclonal antibody can be stored desiccated at -20°C to -70°C for twelve months from date of receipt. The reconstituted antibody can be stored for at least four weeks at 2-8°C. For long-term storage of the reconstituted antibody, aseptically aliquot into working volumes and store at -20°C to -70°C in a manual defrost freezer. Avoid Repeated Freeze Thaw Cycles. No detectable loss of activity was observed after six months.

Anti-Human Interleukin-4 (IL-4) recognizes Human IL-4. This antigen affinity purified polyclonal antibody was purified using a proprietary chromatographic technique that includes covalently immobilizing the antigen proteins or peptides to agarose based beads. This purification method enhances specificity, reduces nonspecific binding of extraneous IgG and provides you with the most reliable reagent available for your early discovery research.
Background
IL-4 is a 15-19 kD pleiotropic immune cytokine secreted by activated TH2 cells. It has many biological roles, including the regulation in humoral and adaptive immunity, the inhibition of bone resorption, the stimulation of activated B-cell and T-cell proliferation, and initiation of allergic responses. Moreover, IL-4 induces a positive feedback loop by stimulating differentiation of naive helper T cells, or Th0 cells, to Th2 cells which in turn secrete more IL-4. Increased IL-4 production and overproduction of IL-4R are found in many cancers. IL-4 has a significant effect on tumor progression by increasing apoptosis resistance via tumor growth enhancement. IL-4 may also play a part in the immune dysregulation that occurs in most HIV-1 infected patients.
