Quality Tested by Leinco These antibodies may be used in
Immunohistochemistry on zinc-formaldehyde fixed, paraffin-embedded mouse testes to localize sp56 on mouse sperm and in immunoblots or ELISA to detect sp56. DILUTION INSTRUCTIONS Each investigator should determine their own optimal working dilution for specific applications. See directions on lot specific datasheets, as information may periodically change. DescriptionDescriptionSpecificity These antibodies specifically recognize mouse sperm protein sp56. They will react with native or denatured, non-reduced sp56 but not with denatured, reduced sp56. These antibodies do not cross-react with human sperm. Relative antibody titers for antibody binding to solid phase sp56: 55101 = 66pM, 55102 = 4nM, 55103 = 29nM, 55104 = 70nM Background Mouse sperm recognize and bind to ZP3, one of three glycoproteins in the egg’s zona pellucida. Mouse Sperm protein sp56 has the characteristics expected of the sperm protein responsible for recognition of ZP3. Primary sequence data indicates that sp56 is a member of a superfamily of protein receptors. Expression of sp56 is restricted to mouse spermatids and is a peripheral membrane protein located on plasma membrane overlying the sperm’s acrosome. Native sp56 is expressed as a homomultimer.
