DescriptionDescriptionSpecificity This antibody recognizes mouse and rat
Versican. Background Versican (chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan 2) is a large extracellular matrix proteo- glycan involved in cell growth and differentiation. Versican contains hyaluronic acid and glycosaminoglycan- binding domains, epidermal growth factor- like repeats, a Lectin-like sequence, and a complement regulatory protein-like domain. Splice variants differ greatly in length and degree of modification by glycoaminoglycan chains. Accumulation around smooth muscle cells in atherosclerotic lesions suggests a role for Versican in atherogenesis. Function May play a role in intercellular signaling and in connecting cells with the extracellular matrix. May take part in the regulation of cell motility, growth and differentiation. Binds hyaluronic acid. NCBI Gene Bank ID UniProt.org Research Area Neuroscience References & CitationsTechnical ProtocolsCertificate of Analysis |
