Recombinant Human TSG

Twisted gastrulation protein (TSG) is a secreted protein¹ that is involved in osteoblast differentiation and mineralization by regulating bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) signaling.² It also regulates dorsoventral axis formation in early Drosophila and Xenopus development.³ TSG is one of five secreted proteins required to pattern the dorsal part of the early Drosophila embryo.⁴ TSG bears a weak resemblance to human connective tissue growth factor (CTGF), a TGF-beta-induced protein.⁵

The biological activity of Human Twisted Gastrulation Protein is determined by its ability to neutralize BMP-6 induced alkaline phosphatase production by ATDC chondrogenic cells. The expected ED₅₀ for this effect is 2.0 µg/ml of TSG.

The predicted molecular weight of Recombinant Human TSG is Mr 22.2 kDa.

The lyophilized protein should be stored desiccated at -20°C. The reconstituted protein can be stored for at least one week at 4°C. For long-term storage of the reconstituted protein, aliquot into working volumes and store at -20°C in a manual defrost freezer. Avoid Repeated Freeze Thaw Cycles.
